As I mentioned in Part I, I do not have the best and latest equipment, and in fact I found this frother at Marshall’s or TJ’s and just liked the fact that it was blue enamelware and was simple to use with a gas stove. I was surprised to find that the best results came from using skim milk, and that half and half or cream do not froth as well – all to my advantage both calories-wise and because right now I am out of half and half.
Looking at the cup in the photo above, it is one of my favorites, and probably John’s least favorite. As many of you know, I hang out at thrift stores, looking for goodies, including signed pottery mugs, but also message mugs. I being the art major who took a couple of pottery courses, prefer one, and John, the man of letters prefers the message mugs, receives them as gifts, and hence the appearance of our cup cupboard.

Who would have thought I could do a 2 part blog post on our coffee brewing ?!?. Actually, it could easily have been done in 1 part except I was too tired to finish. And on the original theme, John much prefers full-bodied, albeit decaf, coffee these days, much better for his heart, we are told. I don’t think he would mistake hot water for coffee any more. And speaking of hearts, sharing a memory from Just A Second, and repeating the cover photo from that site. Just thinking of all the shops I mentioned which are no longer open – The Pink Cupboard, The White Trunk, Stella & Notte, Just A Second, and now Country Cottage.
