I just returned from a long weekend in Florida for our nephew’s wedding. Everything was so beautiful – where we stayed – the wedding venue, the ceremony, the newlyweds and families….
but honestly one of the most amazing sites to see was the line up of shoes in the closet when I finished unpacking. I was there Wednesday evening through Sunday morning. If you were just looking at the shoes you would assume the stay was much longer. Why does every outfit call for a different type of shoe? sandal, closed, heel or not, color, etc. I was amazed at how many pairs of shoes I had to pack for a weekend wedding event, and I was curious. Did my sisters do the same thing.?
Did I mention shoes?!?!
It is ironic that I am focusing on shoes when I remember our daughter Faith and the hard time I gave her (including a new nickname, because of her obsession with shoes.) The name was Imelda! At the time, Imelda Marcos was the wife of the Philippine dictator who was overthrown, and when they were forced to leave the country, Imelda had to leave her shoes behind – an obscene number of shoes: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2207353/Imelda-Marcos-legendary-3-000-plus-shoe-collection-destroyed-termites-floods-neglect.html
Yes, you read correctly…. 3000 pairs of shoes! I guess it’s all relative.
And I think someone else has picked up the trait, Faith’s son, Lucas. I have been sent so many photos of him wearing Faith’s or David’s shoes, but I cannot find one to post, because they were on Instagram and, of course have disappeared.
Oh, and did I mention shoes?!?!
I was trying to get a blog post done while we were all together, so I asked my sisters to take a photo of the shoes they brought with them and text it to me. And they did.
Again, did I mention shoes?!?
They sent me the photos which I have now posted, and here is the quiz to see how observant you are. I talked to my sisters more this past weekend than I have in a long time, and can you believe all three of us without any prior discussion of the shoe subject, any conversation regarding packing, no consultation with one another, at least on my part, packed exactly the same number of pairs of shoes – Seven! How’s that for the hereditary vs. environment debate. I guess in the shoe department, we all received the same gene.
