Besides Valentine decor in February, there is also Elvis, because he has long been part of Valentine’s Day for me.
Elvis’ birthday is January 8, as is one of our daughter’s and one of our granddaughter’s. I was absolutely enamored of Elvis starting in the 50’s, swooned at his movies, did Elvis imitations later on in high school, and received candy in an Elvis-theme candy heart, not once but twice from John on Valentine’s Day.
And we have a life-size Elvis cardboard standing figure, another gift, this time from our daughter who shares his birthday. I asked John to bring it in from the garage shelf on February 1. Before I attached him to our front door, John had a little fun with him.
I did get him installed on our front door complete with a lei adorned with hearts, a take off of Blue Hawaii, one of my favorite Elvis movies, and my white scarf, one similar to the one he often sported during his performances.

So in February and until Valentine’s Day, Elvis adorns the front door of our house. He, along with everything else Valentine-related, was taken down before I left, so I can get started on Spring decor as soon as I return. That, in northern Illinois, is more wishful thinking than reality.
