I Think I’m a Coffee Snob – Part I

It’s happened gradually over the years, and even worse, John is becoming one also. He is the guy who, many years ago, sipped hot water (he thought it was coffee) in a black cup without comment to the delight of his prankster son, Brian.

coffee grinder

Braun coffee bean grinder, an integral part of the “coffee station”.

I think it all started several birthdays or Christmases ago when our son and daughter-in-law gave us a coffee bean grinder. It was used occasionally at first, and now I can’t think of brewing a pot of coffee without freshly ground beans.

Not that we have one of those expensive coffee makers. It’s just a simple Mr. Coffee. And we have a cute jar for the coffee beans and an old peanut butter jar for the fresh ground coffee. We store the filters, the coffee, a vintage mini milk bottle used as a creamer, and a restaurant style sugar dispenser in an old drawer I picked up at The White Trunk. All of those items stay out on the counter. The beans are stored in the cupboard below where it is dark.

Coffee Station (when did we start using that term?!?)

See those red Bakelite handles in the cup with clock faces on it. They are coffee spoons (from Stella & Notte) and I like the “coffee time” cup and the spoons left out as part of the coffee station. (more to follow)
