Sandy came into my life when she opened The Pink Cupboard, which used to be located in what is now the Prairie Street Brewhouse. I was one of her first vendors. That was back in 2000, and our friendship endures and grows. I was invited, along with a couple of other kindred spirits, to brainstorm on blogging and social networking and growing our network of lovers of all things related to farmhouse living, whether in reality or in spirit. We also got a tour of the land and her latest acquisitions – two small well-used and worn outbuildings – one for the mini-goats which she hasn’t adopted yet, and the other for her garden shed. Both need a lot of tender loving care from Sandy and husband Ken, and I am sure those sheds will end up every bit as cute as her little barn below.
It was raining outside so I had to get my “Sandy photo-fix” on the inside – talk about eye-candy, Sandy’s house is full of it. We came in from a mini tour on the golf cart, drenched from the sudden downpour and ending up back in this delightful gathering space – the kitchen/sitting area.
This kitchen is perfection, with its black and white scheme and added color accents. You don’t know where to look next. Everything is fresh and bright and displayed just right.

So much of this is a leap of faith, from vision to reality. And a lot of work lies ahead – acquiring buildings and wagons, restoring the outbuildings, tending the goats, weeding the garden, gathering eggs, and having the strength and stamina to make it all happen

I believe it comes down to filling the cup with inspirational reading, stocking the pantry to nourish the body, and welcoming and pampering visitors with hospitality and joy. Certainly it was a morning worth blogging about. If you like what you see, visit Sandy’s new FB group: Wish I Had A Farmhouse
